Description
The eastern cottontail has long been a common inhabitant of backyards
and open farmlands throughout the eastern and mid-western United
States. This rabbit's elusive nature have made it a
popular small game mammal as well.A non-
social animal, the cottontail is mostly nocturnal but can commonly be
seen foraging alone in the periods between sunset and dark and in the
early morning before sunrise. Cottontails frequently emerge after
summer rain showers to feed on lush vegetation. This photo taken at the nature conservancy in New Milford Connecticut.
